Creating Menus and Pages in WordPress

After installing and going through with the details provided by the worpress login (wordpress basics), the very first thing we needed to do is to create various menus and pages which are basic building block of any website. Here, we will explain, how to create pages, menus and various different modes of them.

 

1) Creating Menu :

For creating a new menu follow through the steps marked in (Red) in image on the right side, which are menu_create

Appearance -> Menus -> Menu Name -> Create Menu

Any name can be provided in (Menu Name) as these names are not visible to the users.

After menu is created, Pages needs to be created which are going to be attached in menus.

 

2) Creating Pages:

For creating a page follow through the steps marked in (Red) in image on the right side, which will page_create1 open the new page section and go through with the steps marked in (Red) in image to fill specific details of the page. After filling all the details click “Publish” button to publish this page on website.

 

3) Adding Page to Menu :

For Adding a page to menu, follow through the steps marked in (Red) in image on the right side. page_to_menuHere, we can add pages/custom links , Categories in a menu. In the adjacent image adding page to menu is shown.

 

4) Adding Categories to Menu:

For adding Categories to menu, follow through the steps marked in (Red) in the image on the right side. category_pagesThis will make the page of dynamic nature, so whenever any new post is written in same category, it will automatically be added in this page also along with “home” page. Also, by this method we can add mutiple categories in same page which will serve it as a collection of similar type of post under one page which will be updated dynamically. Once, we finish setting up the page/category/menu structure then it will automatically place all the new post in the respective places.
